    Entering NH

Hello everyone. I expect to be in Glencliff, NH by this Saturday. I'll probably get there by at least noon. Of course, it is subject to change as things always are out here on the trail. Okay, so right now I am at Pamola's and not out on the trail, but you know what I mean. I will head out from...

2/8 - NYC Beer night and welcome Alpinista

Would anyone be up for getting together the evening of Feb. 8 in Manhattan? I have to be there for a conference all day and would love to get together with some folks. There was talk of welcoming Alpinista to NY. She said she wouldn't be available until about 7:30 and the closer we are to the...

    Vandalism at Whites Trail head

TMax and I pulled into the 19 Mile Brook Trail parking area this morning and saw that a van had all the windows smashed in on one side. There was gear still in the van so it looks like it was just vandalism and not theft. Besides, you only need to smash one window to get into the vehicle...

    Mt. Whitney success

TMax, Jay H, a 3500 club friend and I did a 4 day, 41 mile backpack coming in from Cottonwood Pass with an eventual summit of Mt Whitney on July 10th. It was an awesome hike with spectacular views. We'll provide more info when we get home...typing is slow from my phone.

    Stratton, Dorset 6/3-4

I wanted to test out my tent in the rain. This weekend was certainly perfect for that. I hiked in the Stratton Pond Trail Friday evening. The sign to the shelter was very tempting. If tenting had been allowed near the shelter, I might just have stayed there and set my tent up nearby and...

    Seymour - 2/25/06

When I heard the summer trail head was still open, I just couldn't resist taking advantage of this to get Seymour. I remember all too well that extra 6 miles of road walk last year for the rest of the Sewards. However, that was an easier day. I started out about 7:45 AM with a cloudy day...

    Trip report from China

Hello all, I guess I haven't posted much lately since I have been in China. I am actually in the Tokyo airport killing time right now. I have had a wonderful experience here. I went to Yellow Mountain which is spectacular although rather touristy. The hiking was on "sidewalks" with lots of...

    hiking in NY - viewsandbrews

It seems someone thought combining hiking with good beer was a good idea. The Albany Times Union had this article today: http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=361572&category=ONTAP&BCCode=&newsdate=5/22/2005 Okay, so this isn't really an event, but I couldn't resist posting it...

I'm planning on doing a Catskill hike this Friday. My current plan is to do Graham and then if all goes well, maybe go up Balsam Lake as well. There is a small list of other Catskills I might be persuaded to do instead. If anyone is interested, let me know.

    Whiteface, final 46er

Around the end of 2003, I put together a plan. I wanted my husband Tom and I to finish the 46ers together. Tom needed 24 more and I needed 16. We also wanted to finish the 115 together with our friends Bonnie and Phil in 2004. Tom needed 39 and I needed 21 for the 115. So, we had a lot of...
