North and South Baldface Loop Question

Bicknell has more views, but the Circle trail comes out closer to Eagle Crag. Go clockwise, up the ledges on South.

This will be my 14th year on my trail section and I find a great sense of accomplishment and of doing good work every time I go out.

Trail Adopters Needed - Pemi District

I agree with Raven. I've maintained my section (Baldface Circle trail section) for 13 years now, and enjoy it a lot. Grab one of these if you aren't already, and give it a go.

    Kearsarge North beta anyone?

I had a couple of hours to kill while in North Conway on the 23rd and got about halfway up. Absolutely no sign of snow anywhere on that day. Hope this helps.

    Hiking Skirts

My kilt is still going strong! I've been wearing a Sportkilt now for about 8 years, only switching to hated pants for hiking during really cold weather. I've only had a couple kilt mishaps during that time; call it a learning curve. The kilt is the perfect hiking attire, warm in the winter...

Summit signs taken down on the Carters

I also kinda like the summit signs. I wasn't really sure that I'd hit Wildcat E until I'd gotten to the ski-lift and had strolled over to each false peak that I'd come to.

    Goose Eye trail

I had read that Carlo Col trail was wrecked by logging and called Pinkham to verify. She said that it was badly damaged, but thought that Goose Eye wasn't too bad. I have a chance to go on Monday and wondered if anyone had any more up to date info on Goose Eye trail.

    Two night Baldface trip

There is good camping at the Slippery Brook/Baldface knob junction, with water a bit down the S.B. trail towards mtn pond, if it's not too dry. As for the second night, I would suggest heading down to the west of the Baldface trail beyond N. Baldface in order to have some water; campsites...

    Hennessy Hammock Question

No no, don't do it! Once you sleep in that hammock, you'll never be the same. Actually, I've got an old style expedition HH, and really love the thing. Tents? Never again.

    Glen Boulder short-cut

Dave beat me to it. The Watermans books "wilderness ethics" and "backwoods ethics" should be required reading for all who love the mountains. Lets leave it the way we found it.
