I finally made the decision to break down and buy a Kindle and started looking around at all the available content. I was hopeful that I might find that the WMG was available for it, but alas not yet. I then did a general search for "amc white mountain guide ebook" and turned up some hidden gems! A number of the early editions are in the public domain and are available in PDF and various ebook formats. All of them are scanned editions from the Harvard University library. Fun looking back at the old days...
1907 Edition - http://bit.ly/fmn7D0
1917 Edition - http://bit.ly/i8HJLa
1922 Edition - http://bit.ly/ihlBzB
Also found another one from 1881 titled "The White Mountains: A Handbook for Travelers" - http://bit.ly/ijPRui
and "Chronicles of the White Mountains" from 1916 - http://bit.ly/hDnrhr
Looks like there will be some fun (free) reading on the new Kindle when it arrives. Of course there's also the complete 8 volume writings of John Muir and more classics that I've never read than could be finished in a lifetime. At some point I might even break down and buy a Kindle edition of a new book
