Good article. On the rise, I'd think, because more users are setting out and touching off the slides. And exasperated by the trend of areas opening up gates to the "sidecountry."

Looked at a copy of Outside Magazine in the last year or two? It's all about extreme sports. If it's not way over the top, they don't write an article. When extreme risk-taking seems to be the norm, it may influence even experienced people.
