Hi to all,

I am planning a day hike Loj, Lake Arnold, Colden and Avalanche Pass this Sunday. I would like to know what would be the better order. Should I do the Pass first or last?

Thanks for the suggestions. Have a good weekend.

I would do Av Pass on the way back to the Loj and ascend via Lake Arnold to Colden. Avalanche Pass will take some of the starch out of you and climbing Colden from L. Colden will take more.

It's an easy climb from L. Arnie and the N summit of Colden is pretty cool too. Going the other direction, that summit is kinda "in the way".

Either way, it's a great hike. The contrasting views: up from hitch-up-Matilda to the summit, then from the summit down to Av Pass Lake are incredible.
Enjoy it, either direction you go.

If you go in from the lake arnold side, there is always the SE slide that can be climbed...I haven't done it yet, but I hear good things. It looks great from every peak in the area.

Thanks guys.

I climb Colden from Lake Arnold and did the pas on the way back to the Loj. I was with two others that are not good descenders and it was a long trip down the south side of Colden but the pass is worth the effort!!!
