Trail Conditions: Perfect hard consolidated granular with 1- 2" new snow on top . Some running water still but easily avoided.
Special Equiptment: Any traction micros/stabilicers /crampons or my choice, the most reliable old friends, Lefty and Righty .. my Denali Ascents.
Still lovin' those Televators. (aka heel lifeters)
Comments: Alpine Start at 5am to beat the storm, but failed. Snow started as I crossed 302.
Temps in single digits with light to moderate snow. Light low, moderate higher up . Tracks covered on descent.
I have always found this weather a challenge to dress for:
Wore 2 micro fleeces (A tee and long sleeve) and my most beloved Wild Things eVent shell .
Perfect combi but still too warm.
Next time will wear vapor barrier top and micro fleece.
Stopped about 400 vert from summit on the traverse.
Wind 30-50 and most likely a whiteout and the usual ice on the cone turned this solo guy around.
If you were with me we would have summited.
