Trail conditions:
There was a ski track part of the way and one descending snowshoer. The trail has the addition of Andy and my tracks (Andy did a great job of breaking trail on the ascent). The trail is in terrific winter conditions all of the way to the summit.
Special equipment:
Snowshoes needed for the entire hike. Winter gear,of course, was needed (minus 4 degrees when we left our cars).
Comments:
This is my third time using this trail to access the Kinsmans. It is a great route and is one of my favorite trails in the Whites. Andy and I had a great day but Selene (his dog) seemed to enjoy herself even more than us. It was a great Winter hike. Parking was limited but we used a space 100 yds. past the trail that has room for 4 cars. We had the Mt. Kinsman trail to ourselves.
