Inside sources say... skiers left of Hellbrook, in Ultimate Chute. It was
one of the Meatheads. He was skiing a snowfield above it and some slough
slid, and he started down the chute, but recovered at the last second and
stopped at the lip. They all thought he was OK, but then another wall of
snow hit him and he fell over the edge. He fell 1500'.

Apparently this chute was skied in 2001, but this year is just an ice flow.

WOW - I just got "Schooled" YESTERDAY (a Meathead Films flick), and watched it last night! Eerie indeed. I'm waiting for Elevated and Epoch (release on that one keeps getting delayed, but it should be out be end of month)

This is truly a sad event. I really enjoyed watching "Schooled" and it will be strange when I watch the other flicks. Those guys can flat out ski! My condolences to all who knew him.

Darn, Alec was only 23.

Remember, all this new snow is sitting on a bed of ice. Avalanche dangers are considerable to high in many places!!!!!

Be safe. Use good judgement. Take a level one avalanche class.

Very unfortunate situation. I would certainly echo Nadine's quote on the snow lying ontop of a very slick layer. All the new snow is also very heavy making for alot of potential for Avalanches.
