Just want to confirm that the way to go in temps below freezing is white gas? Want to get gear ready for winter gathering..thx..

White gas is the way to go in the cold temps.

...agree with ripple and coldfeet......white gas is all I ever use...cold, hot, and all in between :)

extreme cold weather stove fuel

For temps below -20F, I use the kitchen range, exclusively. I think that is natural gas and works like a charm in any weather.

Otherwise, white gas.

A dissenting vote for gas cannisters. However, you need to know the tricks for it to be effective. Cannister has to be kept warm-tucked into your jacket before you need it,or toss it in a sleeping bag at night. An insulator pad under the cannister, and a heat disperser plate on the stove make s all the difference too.
In extreme cold(-10 and lower) it can become a problem using the cannisters
Lower than -20,I'll be sitting in the kitchen having coffee with afka-bob! :D
