Hike and trail conditions summary:
The road was plowed for the first mile for logging trucks (not drivable to cars). The plowing ended and a beautifully broken trail proceeded to the Hut. It was bare boot-able but why ruin an awesome trail? There has been significant traffic to the Hut and also up to Zeacliff viewpoint. Beyond Zeacliff, a group of 3 broke trail to Zeacliff Pond. The last 1.3 miles from Zeacliff Pond to the summit was broken out by 2 of us on Saturday 1/29/11. It is still relatively soft in that section. The steep part with the ladders was very difficult to ascend but the rest of the hike was amazing.
Gear needed: Snowshoes
