The park has been building some access trails and shelters to access this areras that traditionally was east of the park until it was added. A trip to area is on my "list"

Those new or newish trails, which leave the Tote Road between Bear Brook and Roaring Brook campgrounds, take you to some wonderful spots on the south and west shores of the Lake. Here's a photo I took about 10 yards off a south shore beach, from one of the free BSP canoes you can use, on the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend a couple of months ago, just before the season ended:

I hiked to the cabins on the lake this past August with Wendy and Lori and was thinking it might make a nice alternative to our usual spot. It might also be fun to do it in the winter.
