    Vitamins

As far as vitamins go I just use a daily multi-vitamin. Probably the best way to avoid the flu is to get a flu shot (if you can find one), avoid exposure to people w/the flu, and wash, wash, wash your hands. For a pretty good recovery supplement I like 'Endurox R4'. Its a sports recovery...

    Wristwear?

I'm thinking about getting a Garmin Forerunner 101. At a suggested retail price of $114.00 it may be the way to go. Its wrist worn although it looks a little bulky. Some features taken from the garmin website: GPS sensor provides precise latitude, longitude, and altitude data for exact...

    Courtesy to hunters

Ive personally never been hunting but have no moral or any other objections to the sport. (and if we can call golf or bowling etc, or even hiking, a sport then I see no reason not to call hunting a sport). I also have no problem with hiking during hunting season provided its legal to do so...I...

    Field Kit

saremt40....good question....its actually just an old, already expired epi-pen. But now that you bring it up.....it would probably be a better idea to switch the duct-tape to something else....thanks.

    Headlamps?

If I'm running on the country roads near home in the late afternoon or early evenings I'll use my Petzl Tikka Plus w/the strobe function just to be more visable to drivers. For some reason a flashing light will draw a drivers eye more so than a solid light, making you more visable and...

Recommendations for a Child Carrier Pack?

I use a Kelty Explorer which is a couple of years old and I'm not sure if that model has been discontinued. The Kelty Backcountry looks similar to the Explorer. Whichever pack you get some features to look for would be an auto-deploying kickstand for safety, reflective tape, pockets to carry...

    Touching the Void-PBS

About a year ago I and some climbing friends went to the REI in boston to view a short documentary about how they filmed Touching the Void and to hear Joe Simpson speak. I was very impressed with his public speaking skills and of course the story itself is very inspiring. Its hard to imagine...

    Lake Tahoe - Recommendations

6 years ago I vacationed (honeymooned really) for 7 days in Tahoe. We didn't get any hiking in but boy did we ski! It was an El Nino year and the snow wasn't the usual 'Sierra Cement' that we had heard about....it was perfect. And the scenery is just beyond beautiful. Even to this day, 6...

    Advantages to Winter.

advantages of winter: all of the above mentioned and at least one more: in winter there is no need to trim your nose hairs.....just take a deep breath of the crisp, icy cold clean winter air and the hairs usually just freeze right up and break off....ya can't do that in the summer!
