Jackson Branch-Dog Friendly?: Webster-Jackson Trail

I'm thinking of doing the Webster-Jackson loop (summit Mt. Jackson first) and have read that there's some scrambling up the Mt. Jackson summit. Can anyone tell me if this is do-able for most dogs? I have 2 very agile Siberian Huskies but thought I'd ask. Thanks.

    Beyond Mt. Parker

I'm thinking about taking the Mt. Langdon & Parker trails to Mt. Parker, stopping for lunch with my Siberian huskies and going back. Would I be foolish not to continue onward to say Mt. Resolution? What are the additional distances/times for continuing on past Mt. Parker? Warren

Pliny, Waumbek, & Starr King or the Carters -- 10/29

Any ideas as to how much snow accumulation they've gotten? I saw an post earlier today that Carter Notch Hut is reporting 40". I was thinking about doing Zeta Pass, Mt. Hight & Carter Dome & Hut but re-thinking that now.

    Best route for the Carters

The route MichaelJ states is just shy of 13 miles (+ the 1.5 roadwalk).

    weather

I sometimes ask myself why I put up with winters but last week I was reminded again. While coming down off Mt. Osceola with my 2 huskies, we stopped for a snack/water break and I started to hear what sounded like sand hitting the fallen leaves. What it was were some clouds had drifted over and...

Wildcats or Carters this Thursday or Friday

After tomorrow, they're forecasting partly cloudy skies; mid to upper 40s on Thurs; mid 30s to lower 50s on Fri & Sat.

    Canada-US border wait time

Are passports required of US citizens crossing into Canada? My daughter is interested in a couple of Canadian universities and since I haven't been to Canada in over a year, just was wondering what is required nowadays.

    Mt. Osceola Trail (Main Peak)

Not having done this one before and with the weather forecasts looking decent for Thurs of this week, I'm thinking of getting out there. With all the rain we've had, are there any special stream or flood concerns I should be aware of? All I came across was a TR referencing slanted slabs which...

Maine (OK, southern Maine) beer night

After reading what Klutz says, I wanna change my vote  Margarita's is a good choice (I prefer the one on Brown St near the Civic Ctr). No matter how crowded it gets, you never seem to be packed in like sardines which do you feel like at RiRa's some evenings. But I'll second what...

    Mt. Chocorua--Oct. 16

I was planning on doing Mt. Chocorua the other week (mid-week) but decided not to due to weather. If it ever stops raining, I'll join you. Would you mind if I brought my 2 huskies? Lucky you, getting to go into the Whites for work! Warren (also a Yankees fan! shhhh...don't tell anyone!)

    MOAC? Looking for Hiking Partner(s)

All of those places sound fine - if you want my vote, I'll go for RiRa's. Any evening of the week is fine as well (with enough advanced notice).

    MOAC? Looking for Hiking Partner(s)

Vege - would this be before, during or after hitting the trails? :D Seems like there's enough interest in a get-together. I'm open as to day of week and location (Portland would be my preference). Anyone want to start making suggestions?

    MOAC? Looking for Hiking Partner(s)

I'm wondering if anyone here is a member of MOAC (Maine Outdoor Adventure Club) and if so, their impressions? I've seen many threads where a trip suggestion becomes a reality with many geographically dispersed folks; however, there's something to be said for knowing who's local (VFTT - Maine...

    Maine's East-West highway?

You may be right about no influx of the large chain stores; however, if past performance is indicative of future behavior, you might be proven wrong. I've run across a couple of "once occupired" Walmarts in some economically depressed areas. Apparently the Mooses' (sp?) unemployment had run out...

    Mt. Chocorua

I've never done Chocorua and since I'm in need of a mid-week work break, I'm interested in knowing if any of the trails (specifically Champney Brook, Piper, Liberty Brook) are better suited for our 4-legged friends. I'm inclined to go with Champney Brook and if I get an early enough start, to do...

    Edmands Path/Crawford Path/Ammonoosuc Loop

I'm interested in hiking this loop (up Edmands and down the Ammonoosuc). It looks about an 8 mile trek (+2 if no car-spot). Other than the necessary precautions like bad weather especially for the 2 mile stretch above timberline on the Crawford Path, is there anything I should be aware of...

    Edmands Path?

Hiking with Dogs Thanks for the additional suggestions! When it comes to my 2 Siberian Huskies (1 & 2 yrs old) and me, I'm the one usually lagging behind.

    Edmands Path?

I'm interested in "dog-friendly" day hikes in the Whites / Westerm ME mtns. I've heard that Edmands Path is a good choice. Any comments or other suggestions? Warren
