On Saturday May 30th ten of us (Kit, George, Keith, Diane, Heather, Gretchen, Judy, Jean, Mike and Donna ) from the Appalachian Mountain Club did a 7 mile hike from the trailhead of Ragged Mountain (off Route 17) to the summit of Ragged Mountain and then to the summit of Bald Mountain.
After dropping off our two “return vehicles” at Barnestown road we started at 9 am. Early morning showers gave way to partly clouded skies with intermittent fog.
Our first view was that of Route 17 brushing the Southwest shore of Mirror Lake.
The open ledge offered a great opportunity to take a group photo.
Flora along the trail included these “twin” pink lady slippers.
A ledge, just below the summit of Ragged Mountain provided a view of Fish Pond with Hope Street skirting its Northwest shore.
Other flowers included Clinton Lilies.
Here’s the trail sign indicating “Where we’ve been and where we’re going”.
Open ledges below the summit of Bald Mountain offered views of the surrounding landscape.

Here’s the view towards Camden, Maine from the summit of Bald Mountain.
The next day, when we left Camden, we snapped this picture of Ragged Mountain from Route 17.
We would like to thank all who participated in the hike and especially Kit and George for organizing this “get together”. It’s always fun to meet fellow trekkers from other AMC chapters.
