I just stumbled across the MA State Parks website and noticed that they recently added Yurts as accomodations to two of their state parks. I've never stayed in one of these things before, but what the heck, I'm thinking why not.

There are many other accomodations I would consider cheap & interesting places or ways to sleep in New England that I've come across. I haven't stayed at too many of them, but here's what I came up with:

Massachusetts:
~ several state parks have cabins for rent
~ two state parks have yurts for rent
~ AMC cabins/lodges
~ Bascom Lodge

New Hampshire:
~ Twin Mountain KOA has a "kaboose" (restored train car)
~ AMC huts, backcountry lean-to's, cabins, and lodges
~ RMC cabins, lean-to's
~ Dartmouth College lodges & cabins (including cabins available for public use, exclusive 2nd College Grant cabins. & Mt. Moosilauke lodge)
~ WMNF cabins (Black Mountain, Doublehead, Radeke)
~ Magalloway Tower Cabin
~ Milan Hill State Park (yurts)
~ Umbagog Lake (cabins)

Vermont
~ many of the state park campgrounds now have lean-to's
~ several state parks have cabins for rent
~ several cottages are now available within the state park system
~ Stone Hut in Stowe, VT

Maine
~ AMC lodges/huts/etc.
~ Baxter has exclusive lean-to's
~ Maine Huts & Trails huts (Poplar Stream Falls Hut, Flagstaff Lake Hut, Grand Falls Hut)

Let's try to exclude (1) anything over $100/night, (2) campgrounds with cabins (i.e. KOA), since there are a million of them, (3) B&B's, & (4) themed hotels/motels (although the treehouse & helicopter at the Winvian in CT are pretty cool....)

Anybody have any additions to this list?
