Is the road to Mt. Abraham's Fire Warden Trail plowed? I think it's called rapid stream road, according to google maps.

If not, what is the best way to approach the mountain for a day hike?

Thanks!

It's typically plowed to 0.5-1 mile before the summer trailhead, though a vehicle with good traction and/or high clearance is sometimes helpful to make the trip more secure. It's packed by snowmachines beyond that, to the summer trailhead. I haven't been there in a while, and there are others on the board that can probably tell you more exact conditions down to the nearest snowflake, but Firewarden's is a nice way to approach it this time of year. I'd rate it my favorite winter 4K so far, of about 20 in New England that I've done.
