We're going to Acadia NP on Victoria Day weekend and are looking for hike suggestions for the return trip (route 9, Maine, eastbound between Bangor and Calais). 2-3 hours round trip would be perfect, but not picky.:). Looking to break up the trip a bit.

    May 31 2011 - Franconia Ridge

I'm thinking of hiking Lafayette (& maybe the ridge) on Tuesday, May 31 2011. If there's anyone thinking of a similar route that day, I'd appreciate the company. I'm basically a little better than book time on a normal day.

I'm thinking of staying at Greenleaf Hut sometime in early August, 2011. I'm planning to hike south to north, stay at the hut at the end of the first day, and then hike down the next morning. Where would be the best/safest place to leave my vehicle?

    Weekend (Jan 21-23, 2011)

Be careful out there. The following is from the MWO website: "this will likely be upgraded to a Wind Chill Warning as wind chills cross our 50 below threshold criteria." This is referring to the upcoming weekend (Jan 21-23, 2011).

Skier, 80, out of the woods

This guy spent 4 days lost in the Cape Breton Highlands. Happy ending, though :D http://thechronicleherald.ca/Front/1050871.html It sounds like his technology failed him when he needed it (as is typical) but he was well equipped (sleeping bag, food, water).
