Chris . . . please accept my apologies for just now getting back to you. I've not been online for the past several days due to an ongoing project.

Yesterday was the first day I've been able to get out hiking for awhile, and today is the first day that I've actually logged onto VFTT.

Anyway, as of about 10 days ago the parking lot for the Cherry Mountain Trail was plowed. I realize that this information is too late for your hike of yesterday.

Once again, I apologize for not responding in a timely fashion. Normally, I'm logged on to VFTT at least once/day.

John, reading previous posts of yours on cherry mountain .. do you happen to know if the trailhead is plowed out? Planning to hike Mt. Martha and Owl's Head on Saturday. Thanks...... Chris

Hi John! Man, I'm glad I peeked over here, I would have never seen your answer. Litter box?! Please, be kind to yourself. My wife corrects me. My last appearance in the CCD likely would have been a speeding ticket reference in 1990 (if you read the CCD you will note, all police activity is mentioned, though the Old Corner Store was a better place to hear things) and/or my accident on Gorham Hill when I kamikazed my rear-wheel drive car into a flight of pulp trucks, that was winter of 1990-91. Another story for another time.

Hey Scott . . . thanks for the clarification! Just think . . . that newspaper with my photo will be lining the bottom of kitty litter pans all across Coos County!

Oh! And please accept my belated congratulations (by about 20 years or so) for your part in the WMRHS back-to-back championship wins for FFA Floor Hockey! Let's see, does that mean that you might be having a 40th birthday before too long. Nah! You'll be no older than 39 FOREVER (just like me!).

No prob! I just got my 12/30/09 Coos County Democrat in the mail. Steve's article about the new book on Wild River Valley is on the front page of the Sports section,B1, and there's his picture of you looking at the giant hemlock. Your names is in the article too. Geez, I haven't been in the CCD since 1989 when we were the WMRHS 1989 FFA Floor Hockey Champs (we won in 1988 too, up till then the only back-to-back champs ever).

I just saw your question about the mid-air picture. My friend Eric was kind enough to take it for me. Amazingly, he was able to capture the image on his first shot, which was especially impressive given how windy it was.
