  • When up Pack this morning and the road is mostly bare with some icy patches. Bareboots were fine with the 14F temp on the summit. May get slippery when the temp warms up more.
    Hey,
Just got on Views last night. It was an awsome day up there, almost too nice. I want another month of winter. Only saw your avatar flying kites. Where would one look for the normal sized people flying kites? Nice idea. Probably best to start with a small kite I would think
I haven't been up Pack this week as I on a training course. I expect the road is icy with all the warm weather. Microspikes are probably a good idea.
By the way, I forgot to thank you for the magic green square...I'm still figuring my way around and about the internal machinations of the user area on this site...
Yup...reminds me of Marc Howes and his "thumbs up" photograph on every peak. It "brands" things, though, and keeps them fun.
We're still trying to figure out our plans as well. Weather, trails, and Alex are all fine.....the problem is me...I now have a nasty cold. Am hoping I'll feel much better tomorrow morning or, at the latest, Sunday.
I declare you official Manchester Beer night organizer. Now that wasn't so hard was it? :)

"If you post it they will come"
Ya should fit in well at the Fool Scout Ball...it is the home of wierdos, crazies and silly buggers ;)
Thanks so much for the greenie! I'm so glad you enjoyed my report. It looks like you had a great hike as well. I just love the goofy picture you took of yourself! That, or the 'cellphone' photo would definitely be a fun avatar. Try to enjoy hiking solo whenever you can. The trails are so busy in winter nowadays, it's hard to find a trail that is quiet. Back when I was your age, (OMG, I can't believe it has come to this!), I hiked 36 of my W48 solo, (...and the snow was over my head ...and I had to hike uphill both to and from the summits...no... not really...), it was truly a life-changing, confidence-building experience. I hope to meet you on the trails someday!
A place to stay, eh? Well what did you have in mind? I could probably find you something.

And you might as well begin the ADK Winter 46 now that you're done with the NH 48!!
Thanks so much, Larisa!! If you ever feel like getting out here, let me know. I'll be hiking in the Dacks for the next three weekends. Colden will be our big finish I hope on March 14th.
A huge, very hearty congratulations. Well done, with 4 weekends of winter to spare. Imagine if you didn't have a job, you could have easily done two or three rounds this season by also hiking on weekdays whenever possible. Has there been a party yet..?
