I met Brian, a VFTTer, and his wife on the way to hike Lion's Head. Hope you both enjoyed that beautiful day!

Near treeline I heard a bicknel's Thrush but did not see it. At treeline I met Barbara, aka Ms. Daisy. She was also hoping for nice alpine flowers.

diapensia is in bloom, but not quite peak yet

I decided to go up Eisenhower summit for views and I bumped into Barbara again and had a nice chat, comparing notes and thoughts on the flowers and hiking in general.

Great photos as usual! I've been seeing that little bird with yellow quite a lot lately in various places, but haven't had the patience/skill to get a photo - great job!

Yellow-rumped Warbler

See link to this page. Abot halfway down, you'll see dead ringer for bird you saw.

Adult male eastern
White throat and belly
Black and yellow patch on sides of breast
Yellow crown patch
Black mask with thin white eyebrow and eye crescent

This species of warbler appears to have a lot of variablity.

Beautiful!

As Always. I too love the raven shot, so hard tom capture.

Agree w/ others about Yellow Rumped Warbler. I see them in my maple trees a lot.

Hey !! How come my pictures of Big Daddy don't look like your pictures ?

It was nice to meet you. Saturday could not have been a finer day in the mountains, as your photos attest. There wasn't much blooming on the Alpine Garden trail, other than the Rosebay, but the views into the ravines made up for it. I don't think I've ever been on Mt. Washington on such a clear day.

To top off the day, we saw a good-sized bear on the side of the road a few miles north of PNVC later in the afternoon. I half expected to see you there snapping close-ups.

Your photos, as always, are excellent.
