NE 3K's finishers

Jim Crawford is the man who is keeping the list. Since he made this, there have been 3 more finishers: Markie Mark, Onestep, and another guy whose name I forget. They finished on Moat in the fall.
NEng 3k Finishers

There seems to be some speculation as to who has finished the NEng 3ks. No need to speculate any longer. I have compiled this list from a variety of sources and cross checked and verified the information to the best of my ability. I believe that this list is accurate and complete. It shows the name, date and finishing peak.

If you believe otherwise, please email me.

Sunday, May 26, 2009 brought another New England 3k finisher into the fold. Al Bernier (Albee) finished the 3ks on South #6 Mountain, Maine (aka Crispo Peak) at about 4pm. Five of us took the rough firewarden's trail up to the tower on #5 peak, then pushed through the woods to # 6, and finally to Albee's 451th, the Crispo Peak (3011'). Light refreshments (brownies) were served.
To the best of my knowledge, Al is the thirtieth to complete this difficult feat. Congratulations!

Woohoo, go Albee! :D

Welcome to the club Albee! But remember that Grucho Marx once said he wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have him as a member! :)

Nice going, Albee ... No. 30! For all the hundreds of hikers out on the trails today and major peak list finishers, the NE451 has averaged about one completer per year .... not a whole lot. Do you suppose all the bushwhacking has something to do with it?

I just wanted to drop a line to say thanks to a few people. My last hike was dedicated to a few of the pioneers of New England bushwhacking that I have had the pleasure of "crossing paths" with:
Jim Crawford, Tom Sawyer, Art Josephson, Dennis Spurling, John Swanson, Roy Schweiker, and Dennis Crispo (hence finishing on Crispo Peak!)
I have tremendous respect for these people, who got the job done with inferior quality maps, analog altimeters, and unaided by GPS.

Thanks to the current generation of true bushwhacking fanatics that are out there, either those recently finished or those working hard towards their goals. We have shared a lot together - you know who you are. Only we can truly appreciate what you have to go through to climb those hundreds of peaks. Maybe one of us should write a book about it or something. (Actually, nah, that would be lame.)

Finally, to the rest of you: stick to the trails and try not to get lost.
"BFD". I'm outta here.

Such a shame.

But when you study and reflect on human history on this GD planet, 'tis not to be unexpected.

Those before us did not benefit from advances such as literacy and learning, which makes us far superior.

Welcome!

Congrats to Ryman and Damon, the dedication it takes to complete this list is immense, I'm happy to have these new members in the club. Wacky bushwackers all!!

That's an insane amount of whacking. Way out of my league.
Congrats on doing it.
